Gorin Ironbar

Gorin Ironbar (nickname Gorn) is a solid, woody, barrel-chested dwarfkin in his middle years. He stands a bit taller and broader than most pure hobbits thanks to his dwarven father, but he still carries the cheerful round face, nimble hands, and unmistakable love of comfort from his hobbit mother. His thick black beard is neatly braided with small iron rings and tiny hammer charms, and his forearms are heavily muscled from decades at the forge. A prominent scar runs across one eyebrow, a souvenir from a shattered blade years ago. He wears a heavy leather apron over a simple tunic and vest, and his large, hairy feet are protected by reinforced boots.

What really gives him away as part hobbit is not the curly hair, but his excessibve consumption of donuts from the bakery across the street. Gorin is well known amongst the locals for his weakness for fresh donuts (especially the honey-glazed ones) and can often be found sneaking one.. or two.. on a lazy afternoon.

Backstory

Bram is the son of a dwarven smith and a hobbit baker’s daughter. He grew up learning the forge from his father while his mother instilled in him a deep appreciation for good food, a warm hearth, and second breakfasts. After his parents passed, he worked as a caravan guard and battlefield smith for a time before settling in Mosgaard. He opened his shop because “the world needs reliable steel, and a lad’s got to eat while makin' it.” He’s practical and honest.

Sayings

Some things good 'ol Gorn is known to say, from time to time…

  • Step right up, get 'em while they're hot!
  • “This blade’s balanced for a quick hand. Now, if ye buy two, I might just tell ye which batch of donuts is freshest today.”
  • “Prices are fair, friend. I’ve got mouths to feed. Mostly my own, when it comes to those honey-glazed ones from the bakery…”
  • “Back in my guardin’ days we learned quick. Good steel on your belly or good steel in yer belly. And good food after the fight, that’s what I always say.”
  • “A broken weapon? Look at this sorry mess. Bring it to the forge and I’ll set it right. In the meantime, let's have a snack while we wait.”
  • “Looking for something special? We just got an import shipment of longswords from Aldpor. On sale!
